The Best Solution!
Paper Hot Cups with PLA Lining:
The Solution of The Unsafe Plastic Lining Paper Cups
The Solution of The Unsafe Plastic Lining Paper Cups
Instead of using petroleum based plastics which create toxicity and environmental pollution, you can now use the compostable alternatives- the PLA lining paper cups.
World Centric biodegradable and compositable paper hot cups are lined with NatureWorks Ingeo™ polylactic acid (PLA), which is derived from corn grown in the USA. Most cups you'll find on the market are lined with polyethylene and wont compost. This PLA cups are compostable and heat resistant up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
These compostable cups will biodegrade within 30 days in a commercial composting facility, and within 90 days in a home composting system.

Waxes are safer material for coating paper cups, but not for hot coffee !
Even through all waxes are organic compounds, both synthetic and naturally occurring, they are not the ideal material for coating hot drink paper cup due to their melt above 45 °C (113 °F). According to the Wikipedia website. Usually, the hot drinks temperature like coffee is between 160 degree to 185 which is much higher than the melting point of wax 113 degree.
Conclusion: it is not a solution for the unsafe coffee paper cup :(
